The Confederation of Productive Forces Trade Unions expresses its gratitude and wishes for success in retirement to its Secretary-General. International Federation of Trade Unions in the Food, Agriculture and Hotel Sectors (UITA)
The Confederation of Productive Forces sent a letter to the International Union of Food, Agriculture and Hospitality Trade Unions (UITA) expressing its gratitude and appreciation to the Secretary of the Union, Sue Longley, on the occasion of her retirement, scheduled to begin on January 1, 2025.
The letter, from the COSEFOP and all independent Algerian trade union organizations, affirmed their deep appreciation for the career of the Secretary-General and her continued support and unwavering solidarity with the struggles of many Algerian trade union leaders who were forced to seek asylum in Europe. The letter also commended her dedication, wise leadership, and unwavering determination to defend union values and workers' rights.
The letter emphasized that her departure represents a great loss to the global trade union movement, especially in light of the complex challenges it faces in preserving the fundamental principles of unionism. However, the envoys expressed their confidence that her legacy will continue to inspire future generations in the continued struggle for social justice and solidarity.
At the end of the message, the President expressed COSYFOPMr. Raouf Mallal extended his best wishes to the Secretary-General in the new phase of her life, wishing her success, happiness, and good fortune in her future endeavors. He also expressed his hope for continued meetings to strengthen union relations and exchange expertise to serve common interests.
These wishes reflect the strong ties between global trade union organizations, while emphasizing the continued need for solidarity and enhanced dialogue in the coming years.
