Statement on the follow-up of the two leading colleagues in the Confederation of Productive Forces Trade Unions in Arabic:

• The Confederation of Productive Forces It affirms that its activities are conducted peacefully in accordance with international agreements and are not related in any way to the activities, goals, or ideology represented by the Rashad movement. It also affirms that we are working diligently to support and achieve the interests of workers and employees, and to defend their material and moral rights.

• We remind the public that the Rachad movement was founded under the supervision of Colonel Mohamed Samraoui, the former number two man in Algerian intelligence. We therefore believe that involving the leaders of the Confederation with those of this dubious movement in a single legal case has serious political implications.

The Confederation strongly condemns the political exploitation of the Rachad movement to tarnish the reputation of the Confederation's leaders. We affirm that we will work hard to provide support and legal protection for our leaders and all members of the organization. We call on the Algerian government to respect national laws and international agreements, particularly the decisions and recommendations of the International Labour Office's monitoring bodies in this regard.
