The National Autonomous Union of Public Administration Personnel (SNAPAP) expresses its full solidarity and support for public transport workers\u2014freight carriers (truck drivers), public transport drivers, and taxi drivers\u2014who have been on strike across the national territory since January 1, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNAPAP strongly condemns the arrests, judicial proceedings, and all forms of persecution carried out against peaceful striking drivers, whose only \u201coffense\u201d is expressing their exhaustion with daily hardships and denouncing the contempt shown toward their legitimate demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The right to strike<\/a> is constitutionally guaranteed, enshrined in Article 70 of the national Constitution, with its modalities defined by the Labour Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of repealing arbitrary, unconstitutional, and antisocial decisions and measures adopted without debate or consultation, the public authorities\u2014as they have done repeatedly\u2014resort to blaming \u201cforeign interference\u201d to sow confusion and divert public opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who enact unjust and antisocial laws cannot claim to defend the Nation or its citizens. The Road Code, fuel price increases, and other such laws are the real sources of destabilization and threats to national cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most striking is the blatant disregard shown toward a nationwide strike that paralyzed the entire transport sector for seven consecutive days, without any serious or lasting decision being taken to address the root causes of the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once again, while saluting the heightened awareness and resolve of the strikers, SNAPAP condemns the arrests of striking drivers and reaffirms its full support for workers in the transport sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
