I have The Confederation of Productive Forces Trade Unions presented<\/a> Dated: August 31, 2023. Memorandum before the Committee of Experts (a monitoring body of the International Labour Office). Concerning the organization's observations on the new law on the exercise of the right to unionize, as well as new violations of the exercise of the right to unionize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The memorandum consists of 48 pages and is supported by fifteen documents proving serious violations of trade union rights in Algeria. We confirm today that the memorandum has been accepted by the Committee of Experts and has been forwarded, as part of the established procedures, to the Algerian government to respond to the organization's observations. The organization's observations, and the Algerian government's response if received, will be taken into account during the regular session of the Committee of Experts of the International Labor Office, which will be held during its session scheduled for November 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a delegation from the organization spoke with Mr. Cl\u00e9ment Nyaletsossi Voule, Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, and informed him of the organization's observations regarding the situation of trade union freedoms in Algeria. We also informed him of the arrest of Mr. Benouna Abdeljabbar, a member of the organization, who was sentenced to 18 months in prison for publishing information on a social media site that could harm national security. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
